Paramount Pictures has dropped a new trailer for The Running Man, the upcoming dystopian action thriller from director Edgar Wright.

The movie is based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel, written under his pen name Richard Bachman, and it marks the second time the story has been adapted for the big screen after the 1987 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This new take stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man forced to play in a deadly game show called The Running Man, where contestants, known as “runners” must survive being hunted by professional killers called Hunters.

Anyone who manages to stay alive for 30 days wins a $1 billion prize. The trailer teases intense chase scenes, high-tech arenas, and a dark look at entertainment in a violent future.

The film also stars Josh Brolin as Dan Killian, the show’s producer, and Colman Domingo as Bobby Thompson, the show’s charismatic host.

Other cast members include Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, William H. Macy, Daniel Ezra, and Karl Glusman. Schwarzenegger, who played the lead in the 1987 movie, even appears briefly in a photographic cameo as the face on the in-universe $100 bill, a small but fun nod to the original film.

Director Edgar Wright co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. Wright is known for his unique style and fast-paced storytelling in films like Baby Driver and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. His version of The Running Man is said to stay closer to Stephen King’s original book, which focused more on the desperate struggle of survival than on flashy spectacle.

The Running Man is set to hit theaters in the United States on November 14. The release date was adjusted several times to avoid competition with other major releases like Predator: Badlands. It will be available in several premium formats, including IMAX, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema.

With its mix of dark satire, sci-fi action, and social commentary, the new trailer promises a bold and intense update to a story that feels more relevant than ever.
