HBO Max is set to remove several DC movies from its streaming library, much to the disappointment of fans. Starting October 31st, the platform will no longer offer Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, The Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Superman: Man of Tomorrow, Superman: Red Son, and Superman: Unbound.
While these titles may not be the most famous in the DC lineup, they are still highly regarded. Superman: Unbound and Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons both hold 100% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, showing that critics appreciated their storytelling and animation.
This isn’t the first time HBO Max has pulled DC content. These removals happen fairly often in streaming services due to reasons like licensing agreements, cost management, or preparing content for other platforms. While it can be frustrating for viewers, it’s a common practice in the industry as companies balance budgets and streaming rights.
Even though the removed titles may not be blockbusters, they hold a special place for DC fans and animation enthusiasts. Their absence will leave a noticeable gap in the platform’s library for superhero content.
Losing these DC animated films is disappointing, especially since some of them received high critical praise. Hopefully, they will return to streaming or become available elsewhere soon. What do you think about HBO Max removing these movies? Will you miss them? Share your thoughts in the comments.
