Yoruba Nollywood actor, Kunle Afod, has announced the death of veteran actress, Iya Ile Okan.
Naija News reports that the thespian’s demise comes barely two months after Afod visited her residence in Ogun state, where she opened up about her health condition.
Iya Ile Okan recounted how she fell and how she had been spending so much on medical expenses.
Afod, who shared the video via his Instagram page at the time, wrote, “Iya Ile Okan really needs God’s intervention.”
However, in a social media post on Tuesday, October 14, Afod expressed sadness over the demise of the actress as he wrote, “We finally lost her. May her perfect soul continue to rest in peace. Iya Ile Okan. It’s a final wrap.
Kunle Afod, known for creating videos featuring visits to veteran stars in the Yoruba movie industry, had also reached out to Iya Ile Okan several times in the past, including extending kindness to the late actress.
Meanwhile, Afod recently shared why he began making his charity work for elderly Nollywood stars public after keeping it private for many years.
The 51-year-old filmmaker revealed that he had long been helping aging colleagues quietly, providing support to those who were struggling outside the movie scene.
He explained that reaching out to veterans had been part of his personal efforts for a long time before he chose to make it visible to the public.
Afod said the change happened after he turned 50, when he noticed many social media comments accusing actors of only spending money on celebrations while ignoring the pioneers who laid the foundation of the industry.
According to him, this pushed him to start sharing his outreach publicly so that people would see the care given to the veterans.
