The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, on Wednesday made his first public appearance in the United Kingdom, days after reports suggested he had been flown abroad over health concerns.

Edun was sighted at the O’DA Art Gallery booth at the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Somerset House, London, where he was taken on a tour of the exhibition Lines of Spirit. The showcase featured the works of African artists Simon Ojeaga, Paul Majek, and Afeez Onakoya, exploring form, rhythm, and transcendence within contemporary abstraction.

In a post shared by the gallery, Edun was warmly welcomed as he walked through the installations, dressed in a long coat and scarf, appearing composed and in good spirits.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Honourable Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to the O’DA Art Gallery booth… We had the privilege of walking him through our presentation,” the gallery noted on its Instagram page.

The minister’s presence in London comes just days after speculation over his health dominated headlines back home. Earlier this month, Naija News had earlier reported that Edun had been placed on doctor-mandated rest in Abuja and was unable to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank–IMF meetings in New York.
