Chelsea boss Maresca receives one-match touchline ban

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has received a one-match touchline ban and an £8,000 fine for misconduct during their Premier League win over Liverpool.

Maresca was sent off as Chelsea claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge through Estevao’s injury-time strike.

The Italian charged down the touchline to celebrate with his players, but then subsequently received a second yellow card from referee Anthony Taylor.

A statement from the FA read: “Enzo Maresca has been given a one-match touchline ban and £8,000 fine for misconduct during the Premier League game between Chelsea and Liverpool on Saturday 4 October.

“It was alleged that the manager acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour during the fixture, which led to his dismissal around the 96th minute. Enzo Maresca subsequently admitted the charge and accepted the standard penalty.”

The ban will see Maresca confined to the stands as Chelsea face Nottingham Forest at The City Ground this Saturday.

Chelsea are seventh in the Premier League after seven games, five points behind early leaders Arsenal.
