Netflix has revealed that season 4 of the popular Shondaland romance series will be released in two parts in early 2026.
The first four episodes arrive on January 29, followed by the final four on February 26. The news came along with a few sneak-peek photos and a short teaser shared by Netflix.
The social season has begun again. What scandalous secrets await us this time?

This season will center on Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and a new leading lady, Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. In the new images, Benedict is dressed in black with a mask, while Sophie shines in silver from head to toe.
The teaser brings back Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown. “With each passing season, one is known to experience plenty of ups and downs,” she says as Benedict and Sophie cross paths on a staircase. “So then we must ask ourselves, do we rise to the occasion? As always, time and this author will tell.”

The teaser ends with a charming moment straight out of a fairy tale, Sophie and Benedict touch hands, and then a single silver glove is left behind on the steps of the Bridgerton home, a nod to Cinderella’s glass slipper.
Showrunner Jess Brownell, who spoke to Netflix earlier this year, shared that Benedict’s story will finally take center stage.
“Benedict is a character who we all have been rooting for,” she said. “We’re deeply invested in his story, and it’s been really exciting trying to shake him out of his normal routine. The only way we were able to do that was with a character as dynamic as Sophie. She is based in a Cinderella trope but she is no damsel in distress. She’s absolutely going to throw Benedict for a loop.”
Fans will also see more of Penelope and Eloise this season. Nicola Coughlan and Claudia Jessie return as the beloved best friends, and according to Brownell, their bond is stronger than ever.
“They’re more bonded than ever! Their trials and tribulations last season have added new depth to their friendship, and we’re excited for viewers to see how their relationship looks now that they’ve each grown up a little.”
The story will also introduce Sophie’s family, her stepsisters, Rosamund and Posy Li, and their mother, Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung. Brownell explained that the sisters are making their debut in society this season.
“Their mother has raised them to be perfect debutantes. But while Rosamund has become her mother’s mini-me — a marriage mart pro chess player — Posy is dreamy and often unserious, much to her mother’s disapproval.”
She added that Araminta and Rosamund have their eyes set on their own goals, barely noticing the Bridgertons at first. “Beyond the fact that Benedict proves to be quite the catch this season.”
Everything leads to the big ball on January 29, when the first part of season 4 drops. Until then, fans can only wonder what surprises await behind those glittering masks.
