Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has applauded the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Mbah, on Tuesday, had announced his defection to the APC, citing the need to align Enugu with the federal government for faster development.

Reacting to the development via a post on his 𝕏 handle on Tuesday, Keyamo disclosed that when he visited Enugu a few months ago, he told the governor that it would be a miracle for anyone to defeat him in future elections.

He praised Mbah for his developmental vision and described APC as his natural home.

Keyamo wrote, “When I came to Enugu a few months ago to launch Enugu Air, I said it would be a miracle for anyone to beat you in future elections. Thank God you’ve now joined forces with President Bola Tinubu to deepen progress and unity in Enugu and the Southeast.”

The minister further described Mbah as the “undisputed leader of Enugu APC,” assuring him that the decision would strengthen his political base in the state.

Meanwhile, a political strategist, Prof Udenta Udenta, has described the defection of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors to the All Progressives Congress as an act of cowardice and gutlessness.

Naija News reports that Udenta stated this on Tuesday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television.

The founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) also dismissed suggestions that the PDP was collapsing, stressing that the party remains strong and politically vibrant.

He maintained that the party’s identity and influence were rooted in the people rather than in individual politicians who defect for selfish reasons.

Speaking further, Udenta said his earlier analysis of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s potential return to politics was based solely on political variables, not on any insider information.

He said, “When I spoke partially about the prospect of the former president, I didn’t speak as a spokesperson.

“He has not declared a political context in the election. Even his membership of the party is only for him to clarify the status of that membership

“If you decide to use the PDP as a platform, the party is vibrant with life, even though there’s a shift in terms of that upper crust of the political elite, the governors, who for some reason decide to say, okay, we call it a day, we’re going to join APC where we think that their gluttony will power our own ambition.”
