The Golden State Warriors suffered an injury setback as Jimmy Butler was ruled out of the upcoming game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. The concerning update on Butler's health came just a couple of days after Warriors coach Steve Kerr deemed Steph Curry “banged up” ahead of the team’s third preseason game against the LA Lakers.
Butler sprained his ankle during a practice session on Friday. Initially, the injury was considered "minor" but the swelling in his ankle did not subside over time. He was rested for the previous tune-up game and was expected to play against the Blazers on Tuesday. However, the ankle sprain will now keep him on the sidelines.
"Jimmy Butler is out tomorrow night in Portland now," Warriors insider Anthony Slater reported on Monday. "He had an ankle sprain in practice on Friday. Steve Kerr said team thought it was minor, but it remains a little swollen. Hope is he returns for Friday’s preseason finale."•
