Alec Baldwin has provided an update after he and his brother, Stephen Baldwin, were involved in a car accident on Monday, October 13. They crashed into a tree at East Hampton, New York, on Monday morning.

Alec and Stephen had recently attended the Hamptons International Film Festival, where they promoted the former's podcast series, One Bad Movie. It's unclear if the accident happened after that. They were driving Alec's wife, Hilaria Baldwin's Range Rover on Monday, when they crashed into a tree.

In a video uploaded on his Instagram account on Monday, Alec Baldwin explained that a big garbage truck cut them off. To avoid hitting it, they steered away and hit the tree. Both brothers are safe, but the car suffered plenty of damage.

Alec said:

“This morning, I was in a car accident. I'm fine. To avoid hitting him [garbage truck], I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife's car. I crushed my wife's car—I feel bad about that.” “That's all fine, and I'm fine, and my brother's fine. My wife's car is pretty smashed up. Big tree, big fat tree.”

Alec also thanked the East Hampton Police Department for "coming to his aid".

Stephen Baldwin's representative also provided an update on his health, telling TMZ:

"Stephen is doing fine and is grateful no one was injured. He appreciates the concern and he can confirm that he and Alec are both safe and well."

Stephen is Alec Baldwin's youngest sibling at 59. The four brothers are Alec (67), Daniel (65), Billy (62), and Stephen (59). They also have two sisters, Elizabeth Baldwin Keuchler (69) and Jane Baldwin Sasso (60).

In the aforementioned Instagram video, Alec also appeared to open up about his wife Hilaria's elimination from Dancing With the Stars on October 7. He said:

“I'm still so proud of my wife, Hilaria. I love you more than anything, and I'm very proud of you.”

Hilaria was eliminated from the show after four weeks with her partner, Gleb Savchenko. The entrepreneur and yoga instructor had faced a lot of criticism during her time on the show, and also said that she was "bullied" off it.

In an Instagram Live on October 12, Hilaria said:

“I did get bullied off the show. I did, that’s for sure. That is for sure.”

She had also said on the show's official podcast, published on October 9:

"There's a big problem online right now. It's a big problem. We don't see each other. We make enemies out of each other. And I'm talking about my fellow women. Women's inhumanity to women. We need to stop. We will never get anywhere.”

Hilaria, however, also expressed gratitude for her partner, Gleb Savchenko, and her family. She lauded Alec and their children for their support. Hilaria and Alec Baldwin have seven kids together - Carmen, 11, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 4, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 2.
