The Indianapolis StarNASCAR Xfinity Series driver Matt DiBenedetto (99) sits in his car Saturday, July 26, 2025, during qualifying for the Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Matt DiBenedetto has driven for Viking Motorsports since it came into existence in 2024, but he won't finish the season with the small NASCAR Xfinity Series team.

Viking Motorsports announced Monday that Connor Mosack will drive the No. 99 Chevrolet for the final three races of the season at Talladega, Martinsville and Phoenix. Mosack has made 31 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including three this year.

A former Cup driver, DiBenedetto finished fifth at Talladega this season and is 22nd in the championship standings.

"We'd like to thank Matt for his contributions throughout our inaugural season," said Jeremy Lange, Viking Motorsports general manager. "He played a meaningful role in establishing the foundation of this team, and we wish him the best."

Mosack, a full-time driver in the NASCAR Truck Series who ranks 14th in the championship standings there, has two top-five and four top-10 finishes.

Viking Motorsports, which has yet to announce its 2026 driver plans, did not reveal why DiBenedetto was replaced.

This was the second time DiBenedetto was pulled with three races left in a season. Back in 2023, while driving for Rackley W.A.R. in the Truck Series, DiBenedetto was replaced despite making the playoffs.

A veteran of 248 Cup starts, 127 Xfinity starts and 43 Truck Series starts, DiBenedetto's lone victory at the national level came in 2022 at Talladega in a Truck Series race.
