US President Donald Trump slammed Time Magazine for using a seemingly unflattering picture of him on their cover, even as the publication praised him for his efforts in brokering the Gaza ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel. The cover in question, unveiled on October 13, 2025, featured a low-angle shot of the president, elaborating on "His Triumph" in facilitating peace talks between the warring parties two years after the conflict began.
Meanwhile, the corresponding article, published on Time Magazine's website on October 11, was titled 'How the Trump Administration Sealed the Gaza Ceasefire Deal.' While Trump was satisfied that the magazine wrote a "relatively good story" about him, he seemed irked at the photo used for the cover, dubbing it the "Worst of All Time."
In a post on Truth Social, the president complained that the magazine "disappeared" his hair and had "something floating on top of [his] head" like a small floating crown. He described the picture as "weird," adding that he always hated "underneath angle" photos.
“Time Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time. They “disappeared” my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Really weird! I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles, but this is a super bad picture, and deserves to be called out. What are they doing, and why?” he wrote.Meanwhile, in its article, Time Magazine detailed how the US president helped bring about the Gaza ceasefire deal with the help of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law.
The magazine added that Witkoff and Kushner's "painstaking efforts" developed "the framework of an accord that promises, at least for now, to quiet one of the world's most destabilizing conflicts." The article also noted that the ceasefire deal could become "a signature achievement of Trump's second term."
The conflict escalated after Hamas attacked Israel in October 2023, which reportedly killed about 1200 people. Following this, Israel retaliated with military attacks in Gaza, which have killed thousands of Palestinians over the past two years.
Trump has been Time Magazine's Person of the Year twice
Donald Trump has been named Time Magazine's Person of the Year twice, once in 2016 and the other time in 2024. Both instances came after he won the presidential election that year. In 2024, the president was one of the 10 candidates shortlisted for the honor, which included Kamala Harris and Elon Musk.
In his description on the short list, the publication highlighted Trump's 2024 presidential election win "in a stunning political comeback," writing:
"He has reshaped the American electorate, activating young male voters who propelled him to a decisive victory that saw him win the popular vote for the first time and turn every swing state red. His 2024 win is history-making in multiple ways: he will be the oldest President in U.S. history, and he was convicted earlier this year by a New York jury of 34 counts of fraud, making him the first convicted felon to be elected President."🚨 President Trump has been named "Time Person of the Year.""Since he began running for President in 2015, perhaps no single individual has played a larger role in changing the course of politics and history than Trump," Time wrote. "Trump is once again at the center of the world, and in as strong a position as he has ever been." ⬇️
When he was first made Person of the Year in 2016, Trump called it a "great honor" that "meant a lot" to him during an interview on NBC's Today show, as reported by the BBC. He was reportedly chosen from a list of candidates that included Vladimir Putin, Beyoncé, and Hillary Clinton.
