Brazil will look to build on their hugely encouraging performance in South Korea when they take on Japan in Tokyo this evening.
Carlo Ancelotti has struggled to find the right formula since taking over the job but there were definite signs of progress as Brazil cruised to a 5-0 win in Seoul on Friday thanks to two goals apiece from Willian Estevao and Rodrygo, added to by a Vinicius Jr strike.
Japan have struggled in their recent outings and appear to have lost their way since qualifying for the World Cup.
After making sure of their place in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Hajime Moriyasu’s men have drawn 0-0 with Mexico, lost 2-0 to the US and, on Friday, required a 94th-minute leveller from Ayase Ueda to claim a 2-2 draw against Paraguay.
They are unbeaten in 20 games at home, however.
