McKinnon is widely known for her decade-long work on “Saturday Night Live” from 2012 to 2022. During her time on the show, she earned ten Emmy nominations and won two. She has also appeared in films like “Bombshell,” “Yesterday,” “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” and the 2016 “Ghostbusters” reboot.

More recently, she played Weird Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” and Carole Baskin in Peacock’s limited series “Joe vs. Carole.” She will next appear in Andrew Stanton’s Hulu sci-fi movie “In the Blink of an Eye.”

The “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series is based on Rick Riordan’s popular book series. Riordan co-created the show with Jonathan E. Steinberg, who serves as showrunner along with Dan Shotz.

Other executive producers include Rick and Rebecca Riordan, Steinberg and Shotz, Craig Silverstein, Bert Salke, and several members of the Gotham Group. The main cast also includes Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer, alongside Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson. The news was first reported by Variety.

The series first premiered on Disney+ in 2023. Season 2 is scheduled to debut on December 10. Season 3, which will follow the story from the book “The Titan’s Curse,” is currently being filmed in Vancouver.
