Now, under Jil Sander’s acclaimed new creative director Simone Bellotti, the partnership is being renewed with the first new Jil Sander x Puma sneaker in decades. To get the collaboration up and running again, the brands are going back to their roots with the Jil Sander x Puma King Avanti. (While the silhouette is more or less identical to the OG 1998 version, the new name reflects the history of the Avanti—a Sander-less King sneaker that Puma launched in 2001, which became a hit in its own right, especially in recent years through an ongoing collaboration with Rihanna’s Fenty label.)
The new King Avanti starts with an all-leather upper construction, complete with the silhouette’s recognizable piping. The launch colorway is a deep, nearly-black navy, with a clean white Puma stripe running across the sidewall and Jil Sander branding in dainty gold font above it. The foldover tongue reveals white leather with gold detailing and a navy Puma logo. Just like the original, it’s uncomplicated, elegant, and all kinds of wearable.
The Puma x Jil Sander King Avanti is out today, October 14, via jilsander.com and select Jil Sander retail locations for $500.
